U.S. Tariffs Continue to Impact Financial Markets

U.S. tariffs continue to heavily influence the performance of financial markets. The latest development – a federal court’s decision to block them – has caused Asian indices and European and U.S. futures to surge. However, the underlying outlook remains uncertain.

There are few changes in our intermarket dashboards. Worth noting is a new attempt at a 50-day and 200-day moving average crossover for the S&P 500, as well as the continuation of the bullish trend in the bond market.

On the macroeconomic front, markets are awaiting the revised figure for U.S. first-quarter growth, while South Korea and South Africa are set to decide on interest rates.

Our forecasting analyses, which do not yet factor in the latest developments on tariffs, still indicate a baseline scenario marked by uncertainty in the equity market, with many investors remaining on the sidelines. Positive signals continue to emerge from the bond sector. Volatility is expected to decline.
