There are some bright spots on the horizon for financial markets

There are some bright spots on the horizon for financial markets. The US-UK trade agreement, the openness to further agreements with the EU and other countries and the confirmation of negotiations with China seem to be restoring investors’ confidence in the possibility of a solution to the tariffs issue, not painless but less impactful than previously feared. Eyes on the S&P500 and in particular a possible break above the 50 and 200 day averages.

Our intermarket dashboards show an improvement in market sentiment. And eyes remain on the possible bullish cross of the 50 and 200 day averages of the S&P500. FED decisions are weighing on bonds, although the global index remains supported by the 50-day average. Commodities continue to trade sideways.

A rather quiet day on the macroeconomic front. Of note were Chinese export data for April, Brazilian inflation and the state of employment in Canada.
