Financial Markets Show Positive Tone as ECB Takes the Spotlight

Financial markets continue to show a generally positive tone in equities, despite macroeconomic signals indicating a slowdown in the U.S. private sector, while awaiting moves from the European Central Bank.

In our intermarket dashboards, the situation remains largely stable. It is worth noting the trend in the S&P 500 to Nasdaq ratio, which has returned to the lows seen at the end of last March, signaling a strong renewed interest in technology stocks.

On the macroeconomic front, today is ECB day. Markets are expecting a further rate cut and some insight into the Bank’s upcoming actions. Also of interest are the data on German industrial orders, U.S. export and import trends, jobless claims, and employment cuts in the United States.

Our forecast analysis suggests a moderately positive day for equities, particularly in the U.S. market. Long-term government bond yields are showing further signs of recovery, with positive indications for corporate bonds. Volatility is expected to remain stable.
