Financial markets are trying to interpret the latest U.S. macroeconomic data

Financial markets are trying to take stock of a week marked by U.S. macroeconomic data that, at first glance, appear positive. Equities look uncertain, as does the bond market. Volatility is slightly on the rise.

There are no changes with regard to the indications from our intermarket dashboards. The situation remains stable on the sentiment front, while all three macro asset classes are “battling” around the 50-day moving average.

On the macro front, the day features the decision of the Japanese central bank, retail sales in the United Kingdom, German producer prices, and Eurozone consumer confidence. The final reading of the Michigan index for December is also due.

Our forecast analyses continue to point to an uncertain outlook for equities, with more positive signals coming from Europe. Positive signals are returning for gold, while the commodities sector remains mixed. The bond market is still uncertain, and volatility is slightly increasing.
