Financial markets are moving at a slow pace at the start of this week

Financial markets are moving at a slow pace at the start of this week. The risk of a U.S. government shutdown is becoming a bit more concrete, while new tariff announcements are coming from the White House starting mid-October. Today, job openings data for August are awaited, while the crucial U.S. employment figures for September (scheduled for Friday) risk being delayed in the event of a shutdown.

Few changes are seen in our intermarket dashboards. On the one hand, sentiment remains risk-on; on the other, gold is regaining strength against the Dow and the Dollar. Global equities and bonds are attempting to reestablish a firm position above the short-term moving average.

On the macro front, interesting data are expected today from the Chinese and Japanese economies, inflation figures from France and Germany, U.S. job openings data, and U.S. consumer confidence trends. The interest rate decision from the Reserve Bank of Australia is also awaited.

Our forecasting analyses indicate a still positive phase for U.S. and European equity markets, while the situation is mixed in Asia. Corporate bonds are turning positive again, while commodities show a mixed picture. Volatility remains stable.
