A prevailing sense of uncertainty is steering financial markets as the week draws to a close
Financial markets are trying to take stock after a week rich in data and events. The big tech earnings season delivered mixed signals, while Powell’s remarks and the continued lack of U.S. macro data are increasing uncertainty. Equities are still seen in positive territory, bonds remain in a waiting phase, and the dollar is recovering.

Our intermarket dashboards confirm that a subtle underlying uncertainty continues to creep through financial markets. This uncertainty moderates sentiment (positive but volatile) and weakens the upward momentum in both equities and bonds (the latter falling back below the short-term moving average).
On the macro front, the day features Chinese PMI survey data, Japanese industrial production, Eurozone October inflation, and German retail sales.
In terms of U.S. earnings, the week ends with results from two energy giants: Exxon and Chevron.
Our forward-looking analysis still points to a positive trend for equity markets, particularly in the United States. Positive signals also for commodities and the dollar. Volatility is expected to decline.
